What is Matcha?
Matcha is a type green tea with a list of health benefits a mile long! Instead of being a tea bag or loose leaf tea, Matcha is ground into a fine powder and mixed or whisked in hot water so you consume the entire leaf. It is quite trendy right now and you may be even a super fan yourself. I know I am. 😉
If you are looking to consume less caffeine yet stay productive, this may be exactly what you are looking for. Matcha helps you have energy throughout your day and specifically supports increased focus and mental clarity. Matcha is an incredible alternative to coffee, especially if you have gut health issues! Why?
Because matcha:
🍵 Is rich in antioxidants
🍵 Provides all day energy
🍵 Has antibacterial properties to help give skin a natural glow
🍵 Helps fight bad breath and teeth staining
🍵 Balances pH levels, making it a great for your digestion
🍵 Has been linked to helping prevent heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer
and so much more!
Selecting Your Matcha
Not all Matcha is created equally. I always like to make sure mine is naked! What do you. mean? Organic and not a thing added!! Many matchas available now add sweeteners and flavor enhancers. Opt out of those.
My go to is Matcha Nude! Matcha Nude is a female owned and operated businesses out of Canada providing bold, organic and nude matcha that is absolutely fantastic! It doesn't end there! They also package and mail their matcha in compostable packaging! Thanks for looking out for mother earth!! 🌎 They offer free shipping in CA and you can use code USASHIP for free shipping in the states.
How Do You Make Matcha?
It is way easier to make matcha than you may think. You can used a matcha whisk, electric whisk, handheld whisk or even a fork. The basic recipe is:
Add 1/2 teaspoon of Matcha to 1 teaspoon of just under boiling water and whisk to combine. Next you have a choice.
Top your cup off with just under boiling water and enjoy! (This is my daily matcha recipe)
Make a Matcha Latte by adding steamed milk of choice in place of additional water
You can get creative here and add homemade syrups, maple or a seasonal favorite like pumpkin pie spice or peppermint. Also, can you ever go wrong with a lavender Matcha latte? I think not!
So what do you think? Is it time to add more matcha to your life?
